Ma Tovu Portfolio
The Ma Tovu Portfolio is not a security or investment advice. Rather, it is a conceptual portfolio set up to demonstrate what individuals may be able to do if they invest in securities that are targeted for boycotts. Everything that follows is a description of one period of analysis for this concept. The purpose of this concept is to show pro-Israel investors what they may be able to do by following a similar strategy of investing in boycott targets, with the understanding that this is simply one example of many possibilities. We encourage each individual to use this as a starting point for their own portfolio decisions.
The Ma Tovu Portfolio is designed to demonstrate how it is possible to simply and efficiently investment in companies that support Israel, while at the same time rejecting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement and its discriminatory targeting of the Jewish state.
When BDS and other anti-Israel agitators recommend the boycott or divestment of companies doing business in Israel, including companies that support Israeli IDF soldiers, this portfolio consists of exactly these investments!
2024 was the inaugural run of the portfolio. The annual results were 19.95% up.
2025 was even better, up 40.84%!
Background
BDS seeks to isolate and financially harm both the state of Israel and companies doing business with Israel.
The government of Israel recognizes this movement as one of the most serious threats to the continued success and reputation of the Jewish state.
Those outraged by this discriminatory and antisemitic BDS agenda may be unclear as to what they can do to practically counter it.
The first year results of this portfolio indicate that investing in Israel-supporting companies offers a new option to oppose BDS successfully.
Investment Methodology
BDS and other anti-Israel organizations publicize lists of companies to be boycotted and/or divested from because of their purported support of Israel, oftentimes focusing specifically on support for the Israel military or soldiers.
Some of these targeted companies are Israeli, while others are foreign companies with business activities in Israel.
The portfolio selects well-known companies that are being targeted for boycott/divestment, while ensuring a balance of sectors.

The Name/Concept
The name of the portfolio is taken from a blessing in the Torah.
According to Jewish tradition, the non-Israelite prophet Bilaam was hired by King Balak to curse the Israelites before an expected war. Rather than curse Israel, God allowed only blessings to emanate from Bilaam’s mouth. We took the first two words in Hebrew (Ma Tovu) from the most well-known of these blessings:
מַה-טֹּבוּ אֹהָלֶיךָ יַעֲקֹב מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל
How Goodly Are Thy Tents, O Jacob, Thy dwellings, O Israel!
We see the BDS Movement as similar to Bilaam, and wish to turn their curses into blessings.
The portfolio’s objective is to actively participate in creating these blessings, and encourage others to do the same.
